The Logic Factory Implements Quintiq at the Panama Canal

The Logic Factory Implements Quintiq at the Panama Canal

For Immediate Release: May 2018

The Logic Factory has been selected by the Panama Canal to be their Quintiq implementation partner.

In March of 2017 the Panama Canal Authority announced it had bought Quintiq licenses to support their planning processes. (http://www.pancanal.com/eng/pr/pressreleases/2017/03/15/pr618.html)

After last year’s launch, the newly expanded Panama Canal hosted an influx of traffic; making the decision to implement the new scheduler simple. The Logic Factory is honored to be working with the Panama Canal on implementing the Quintiq application suite.

As the Panama Canal Authority stated: “In response to growing traffic through the waterway, the Panama Canal (…) will launch a state-of-the-art vessel scheduling and maritime resource management system to further optimize costs, improve safety and increase the overall efficiency and reliability of the service it provides.” The Logic Factory is fully geared up to, together with The Panama Canal, make this happen.

“For more than a century, the Panama Canal has enjoyed a proud legacy of innovation,” said Panama Canal Administrator Jorge L. Quijano. “This system will help carry that legacy forward, allowing us to tap the potential of technology to provide better solutions for our customers as we increasingly manage more transits and adapt to shifts in global trade.”

About Quintiq

Since 1997, Quintiq has been solving each of those puzzles using a single supply chain planning and optimization software. Today, industry leading companies across the globe rely on Quintiq software to plan and optimize workforces, logistics and production. Quintiq is part of Dassault Systèmes (Euronext Paris: #13065, DSY.PA) and has headquarters in the Netherlands and the USA, and offices around the world.

About the Panama Canal Authority

The Panama Canal is run by an autonomous agency of the Government of Panama in charge of managing, operating and maintaining the Panama Canal. The operation of the Panama Canal Authority (ACP) is based on its organic law and the regulations approved by its Board of Directors. About the Panama Canal Expansion

The Panama Canal Expansion is the largest enhancement project since the Canal’s opening in 1914. Considered and analysed for a decade with more than 100 studies, the Expanded Canal provides the world’s shippers, retailers, manufacturers and consumers with greater shipping options, better maritime service, enhanced logistics and supply-chain reliability.

The Expansion included the construction of a new set of locks on the Atlantic and Pacific sides of the waterway, creating a third lane of traffic and doubling the cargo capacity of the waterway. While the expanded locks are 70 feet wider and 18 feet deeper than those in the original Canal, they use less water due to water-savings basins that recycle 60 percent of the water used per transit. In line with its commitment to customer service, the Panama Canal will continue to provide the world with value for another century and beyond.

TLF Selected to Implement Phase 2 for TINE

TLF Selected to Implement Phase 2 for TINE

For Immediate Release: April 2018

The Logic Factory, a certified Quintiq Platinum Partner, has been selected to implement phase two of the Quintiq solution for TINE, which will further enhance its tactical planning and expand the solution’s scope to include operational planning.

Last year, TINE went live with the first phase of the Quintiq solution, designed to optimize the company’s last-mile delivery of dairy products on a tactical level. TINE’s planners used Quintiq to plan shipment routes from central distribution centers all over Norway to customers. They were able to manage the complexity of trailer swapping, several types of resources, dynamic time windows and ferry connections in Norway, while maintaining a cold chain at all times. This first phase resulted in a significant reduction in costs, decrease in total miles driven and improvement in customer service.

TINE now enters phase two, which will be executed by The Logic Factory, Quintiq’s implementation partner. In this phase, TINE will enhance its existing tactical planning solution and expand its scope to include day-of-operations planning. This expansion will ensure better incorporation of operational orders, improved performance and greater capabilities to manage disruptions through real-time feedback and increased supply chain visibility.

“We selected Quintiq to strengthen our leadership in the market and help us to continue providing fresh, quality products to customers,” said Trond Vidar Aske, CIO at TINE. “The first phase of the project was very successful due to the Quintiq team’s great drive to beat industry benchmarks and set new standards. We are confident that the next phase with Quintiq and The Logic Factory will be just as successful.”

Upon completion of the second phase, TINE will benefit from additional tactical planning capabilities and be able to make more accurate decisions on an operational planning level. When disruptions occur, the Quintiq solution will provide planners with decision-making support for last resequencing of deliveries to keep customer service levels high while achieving business goals.
