For the Fleet Assets division, DELMIA Quintiq is optimizing utilization of large numbers of road trailers and coil carriers to cut costs and improve efficiency. Planners are supported in combining trips, determining cost-effectiveness of contracts with sub-contractors, and expanding the breadth of service offerings. Centralized planning, with a single view of operations, is helping P&O Ferrymasters identify opportunities to achieve return loads between countries. This initiative alone fully recovered the project investment within the first six months of its implementation.

Additionally, the company can extend the concept to ‘triangulate’ the movement of freight across more than two countries, considering the compatibility of loads and routes with different haulers and different trailers or units. The combined capabilities of P&O Ferrymasters’ TMS system and DELMIA Quintiq’s Advanced Planning & Scheduling capability gives P&O Ferrymasters a distinct advantage, enhancing their competitiveness and operational agility.
