Integrated planning is something unique. What is happening now in Rotterdam does not exist anywhere in the world. It really is a quantum leap into system optimization and an absolute showcase.

THE PORT OF ROTTERDAM AUTHORITY

The Port of Rotterdam is the largest container port in Europe, handling up to 15 million Twenty-foot Equivalent Units (TEU) per year. Additionally, the port accommodates 18,000 inland barge visits annually and divides more than 100,000 calls across its 15 terminals.

As congestion at the multi-terminal port increased, planners were unable to create an overall solution due to a lack of visibility and fluctuating changes. To resolve this, The Port of Rotterdam introduced Nextlogic in 2010 – a program to improve the handling of containers.

Nextlogic’s partnership with The Logic Factory (TLF) soon made integrated planning at the Rotterdam port a reality. Algorithm experts at TLF developed an innovative optimizer that runs 24/7, reacts to data changes, and receives incoming data of almost 40,000 new inputs per day, resulting in improvements such as reduced waiting times and 25% more accurate booking.

Collaborating with our participants, we enhance the container handling process for the future, with TLF being our reliable partner to incorporate this into the algorithm. As a result, TLF has become an important part of the port community.
