Faces of TLF - Herbert

Meet Herbert, an IPC from our Dutch office!

Introduce yourself: who are you and what do you do within TLF?
I am Herbert van der Meij, and I have been working at TLF in the IPC (BC) role for about 3 years now. Next to that I started in the team lead role last January.

What do you like about your particular role?
The nicest thing about the IPC role is that it is never boring. At TLF we work in a wide variety of industries, such as logistics and aviation, but also mining and public transport. As an IPC we get the opportunity to learn all these different businesses and learn them as our own. That variety ensures that my working environment is diverse and inspiring. On top of that the people working in these industries are all very different from each other, and are spread all over the globe. It’s never a dull moment and a lot of fun dealing with cultural or other differences.

What’s your favorite part about working for TLF overall, please explain.
After working for a company with over 30,000 employees prior to joining, TLF is a breath of fresh air for me. Management and other employees are not miles apart, which translates into means short lines and quick decisions. Next to that I love the mindset of the company (all my colleagues) in trying to get as much (operational or other) value and efficiency for all our diverse customers as possible, to provide the biggest bang for their buck.

Who are you outside of TLF? Family/ friends, etc. How would they describe you?
I like to hang out with friends and family, but I can also be perfectly happy on my own. Traveling alone, for example, for me is one of the most fun things to do because of the social interaction with strangers that is much easier when alone rather than with groups. But I also love huge social gatherings or going on weekends with lots of friends. So in short, I think you could say that I like a lot of things, which makes being happy that much easier 😊.

What do you like to do for fun/hobbies?
I love reading, especially fantasy novels… there is something about the fact that everything is possible, and unexpected things happen that draws me to these novels like a moth to a flame. Next to that I like playing basketball, or all ball sports really, and I love to travel and experience other cultures.

Any fun hidden talent or skillsets?
I think I already mentioned my biggest (and by me most loved but maybe not so hidden) skill, and that is seeing fun in (almost) everything I do. I can have as much fun cleaning the toilet as I have when I am out with friends or meeting a new customer at TLF.

A message to all?
Have fun in what you do, or said differently, enjoy what you are doing!
