Faces of TLF - Maitrik

Meet Maitrik, a software engineer and team manager in our Ahmedabad office.

Introduce yourself: Who are you and what do you do within TLF?
My name is Maitrik and my primary role at TLF is Software Expert for DELIMIA Quintiq. I am part of the delivery team that helps build the essential working components of the software. I also manage a team of Software Experts who are core to the success of our delivery team.

What do you like about your particular role?
What I find most interesting about working as a Software Expert is how closely I can relate to the real-world puzzle our software helps solve. It’s especially rewarding to know that the functionalities we develop empower planners to make better decisions – decisions that ultimately help our customers achieve their goals.

What’s your favorite part about working for TLF overall, please explain.
It’s a fun place to work! Sometimes, we are chasing an ambitious deadline, and sometimes, we are sharpening our tools (aka our minds and knowledge) by constantly upskilling. We could also be keeping up to date with the new releases of the software or the e-learnings that are added for a role or the product. There hasn’t been a dull moment in the past few years that I’ve been on the team at TLF.

Who are you outside of TLF? Family/ friends, etc. How would they describe you?
I live in Ahmedabad with my family of four, my wife and my parents. Every few weeks, my friends and I plan a weekend get-together. It could be just hanging out at some café or a game night-out every few months. They would describe me as a slightly introverted person, but I would say I’m an ambivert 😉

What do you like to do for fun/hobbies?
On the weekend, I like to binge-watch a series. A few of my favorites are Prison Break, Friends, Big Bang Theory, Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, Ozark etc.

If I’m not watching a series, then I am likely playing video games on my PlayStation. Some of my favorite titles are Gran Turismo, Assassin’s Creed, The Last of Us, Uncharted, etc.

If I don’t do either of the above two, then I would be watching some YouTube videos mostly based on automotive content. I like to keep myself up to date with all the new cars/bikes being launched and the features and engine options they come with.

I also like to go out every morning on my bicycle to make sure I have some physical activity in my life – but not it’s ideal during Indian summers as I’m not an early riser!

Any fun hidden talent or skillsets?
Well, I didn’t know if it’s such a hidden talent, but I love riding motorcycles, both on and off road. I visited the Himalayan region with an off-road bike. I was quite confident within the entire group to ride the trails, and it was a very memorable trip. That said, I have yet to do another trip to the north region of India to test my skills again 😛 I always thought I was a track person! I guess I’m both.

A message to all?
This quote by Steve Jobs really resonates with me, “Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do.”

I’d to thank every colleague of TLF for making TLF a great place to work and making me always look forward to the next day; taking on the new challenges the day has to offer. Having said that, I would encourage everyone to constantly upskill themselves and always challenge the current status quo.
